![]() ![]() I would suggest caution in reading research articles to inform your gear/drug decisions. I'm not worried about reduced testosterone associated with OTC drug use as I am a healthy adult male who gets plenty of exercise, eats a well balanced diet, gets a good amount of rest, and isn't frequently overly stressed out, and doesn't grossly exceed recommended doses. Acetaminophen also has side effects but I decided it was less risky than ibuprofen for ultras, so I updated my backpacking first aid kit to make things similar for my outdoor stuff. ![]() ![]() I used to use ibuprofen however I run ultramarathons and have a background in health sciences research and there is some evidence suggesting high ibuprofen use during an ultra in conjunction with dehydration is associated with acute kidney stress/damage and that in rodents, ibuprofen suppresses some inflammatory pathways that are involved in recovery and these pathways are also present in humans. ![]()
